Nutrition Bulletin October 2018

admin News, Nutrition, Wellbeing / MindBodySoul

It is well into October now and hat-off to the sober-heroes all battling the urge for alcohol, in support of the tremendous efforts of Macmillan cancer support.
That said, for this first bulletin I’ll highlight an antioxidant involved in a plethora of processes but more to the point liver detoxification, and immune support, hmmm how convenient…

GLUTATHIONE is a potent antioxidant and detoxifier found in all tissues of the body, and helps to rid it of heavy metals, pesticides, solvents and the harmful effects of alcohol, and if that’s not enough it has been used for anti-ageing, toxicity of radiotherapy, hepatitis, maintaining immune function (think cancer/HIV), atherosclerosis (hardening of arteries due to plaque build up) and diabetes…Wooow!

So how do you acquire some?
The great news is that being so important, this diadem of a nutrient is widely available in most foods:

GLUTATHIONE CONTENT /100g

FOOD GROUP CONTENT mg/100g
Walnuts

Fresh vegetables
Fresh fruit
Breads, cereals, legumes

Our natural biochemistry requires policing, and without glutathione’s protection, our cells die faster which consequently means we age a lot quicker and are put at risk for toxin-induced diseases like cancer.

Why not add a tablespoon of crushed walnuts & goji berries to some kefir at breakfast or as a snack to up your levels of this neighbourhood super-hero!
